Charity 2018/9

2018 Charity Events

You’ll find all the details and booking options of these events on our Facebook page.

Thank you to everyone who nominated their charity by 30th April 2018. We had an overwhelming response and have chosen the following two charities:

The Music Man Project UK – who are organising a “Music is Magic” concert at the Royal Albert Hall on 15th April next year.

Carli Lansley Foundation raising money for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) – whose aim is to hold ECG screenings for young people in Southend each year, with each screening costing £5,000.

Here are further details of the charities and their goals.

Carli Lansley Foundation raising money for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young)

Carli LansleyOn 1st June 2017, Carli Lansley sadly passed away from Sudden Arrythmic Death Syndrome (SADS) at the age of just 36.  She had two young children who were 11 and 7 at the time.

It has naturally been a devastating time for the family who are now trying to do something positive to make sure no other family should go through what they are experiencing.

At the beginning of February, they set up the “Carli Lansley Memorial Fund” and their nominated charity is Cardiac Risk In The Young (CRY) –   Their aim is to raise sufficient funds to cover the cost of holding ECG screenings in the Southend area.  These screenings will take place over two days on a weekend and will enable 200 young people (100 per day) to receive a free ECG.

In such a short space of time, the family has been overwhelmed by the level of support and the offers of help.  Whilst busy arranging lots of fundraising events, every single penny will be used for the Charity (they will not be incurring any administration costs at all).

In just under three months, they have already raised almost £4000 and have lots more plans in place to raise as much as possible.  Their aim is to hold 4 screenings in Southend in a year and each day’s screening costs £5000. We are also hoping to involve the whole Southend Community (small/large businesses, schools, sports clubs) in our plans.

They are also in the process of setting up their own Registered Charity – “Carli Lansley Foundation”.
